Thanks to a variety of State Grants from the California Department of Parks and Recreation and the California Department of Boating and Waterways, and Acquisition Grants from the California Tahoe Conservancy, the District also acquired the land for the Tahoe Vista Recreation Area at the intersection of National Avenue and Highway 28. The lakeside portion of that project has mostly been completed and additional funding to complete the parking facility across the street is being sought by the District.
The Recreation and Parks Department maintains our facilities with a small staff of four full-time, year round employees, as well as a full summer seasonal staff.
The Parks staff maintain the following facilities:
- North Tahoe Regional Park
- North Tahoe Event Center
- Tahoe Vista Recreation Area
Through an agreement with Placer County, the District maintains the following facilities.
- “Steamer’s” Beach
- Moon Dunes Beach
- Speedboat Beach
- Secline Beach
- Kings Beach Library Property/Griff Creek Area behind the Library
