The Board of Directors invites District residents and business owners who have an interest in recreation and parks to volunteer and serve on the Recreation and Parks Commission. Its members are an advisory commission to the NTPUD Board of Directors and liaison between the Board and the community on matters related to Recreation and Parks, and also administer the Youth Trust Fund which provides recreation scholarship opportunities for District children and teens.

The Commission consists of five (5) members and two (2) youth members and up to two (2) alternates. Notice of vacancies are posted on the District website, at the three Post Offices located within the District, advertised in the Sierra Sun and in our District E-newsletter. Applications received will be submitted to the Board of Directors and reviewed for consideration of their appointment.  Members serve three (3) year terms and youth members serve one (1) year terms and both may serve multiple terms.

 Steps to Apply:

  1. Review the By-laws for the Commission.
  2. Complete the Recreation and Parks Commission application.
  3. Submit the completed application to the District.  Applications are due November 8, 2019.
  4. Applicants will be considered at the December 2019 Board of Directors meeting.

The  Recreation and Parks Commission also assists with the NTPUD Pancake Breakfast which is held the second Saturday of the annual SnowFest Celebration in North Lake Tahoe. The Pancake Breakfast is held at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach between 8:30am - 10:30am and kicks off a day of SnowFest family-friendly activities in Kings Beach including the Pancake Breakfast, Dress Up Your Dog Contest, Kings Beach Parade, and a variety of other events. Visit the SnowFest website for details!

The Commission has also been instrumental in planning and organizing the Friends of the Park Fund. Click here to see what that fund is all about.
