This project will dredge the marina portion of the Tahoe Vista Recreation Area boat launch and make structural improvements to the marina bulkhead that protects the launch staging area and the boat ramp.

As of April 1, 2023 – all permits have been received for this project and are valid for a minimum of three (3) years, expiring in 2026.  The permits stipulate a work performance period between May 1st and October 31st as TVRA was determined to have marginal fish spawning habitat.

District staff is assessing the window for completion of dredging as it relates to peak use of the TVRA.  Given the current snowpack and water level in Lake Tahoe, the NTPUD will operate the TVRA boat ramp for the Summer 2023 boating season without the need for dredging.

With higher water levels comes increased cost of dredging and littoral drift (movement of sand underwater), particularly over the winter months, which may re-establish a sand bar before the lake drops to a water level where the dredging benefits are realized. With that in mind, District staff have identified 2024 as the first opportunity to complete dredging that will maximize the value of the dredging, while also minimizing impacts on peak use of TVRA.

Estimated Construction Date: Spring or Late Summer/Fall 2024
