Providing up to $600 annually to help income-qualified residents participate in recreation programs, activities, and enjoy community facilities
(Tahoe Vista, Calif.) Tuesday, September 15, 2026 – The North Tahoe Public Utility District (NTPUD), proudly announces the launch of the Friends of the Park Recreation Scholarship Program, a new financial assistance program designed to make the District’s recreation programs, activities, and park facilities more accessible to local families.
Income-qualified residents may receive up to $600 annually toward NTPUD recreation programs, memberships, and rentals at the North Tahoe Regional Park and Tahoe Vista Recreation Area.
“This new scholarship program ensures that cost is not a barrier to participating in our recreation programs, gathering at our facilities, and enjoying everything our Recreation and Parks Department has to offer,” said Sue Daniels, President of the NTPUD Board of Directors.
The program offers two levels of financial assistance based on household income and family size: Tier 1 participants may receive up to $600 annually and a 50% percent discount from the NTPUD resident rate. Tier 2 participants may receive up to $300 annually and a 25% discount from the NTPUD resident rate.
Recreation scholarship funds may be used for NTPUD-sponsored recreation programs, park facility rentals, and activities, including North Tahoe Martial Arts, group activities such as Drop-in Pickleball and youth summer camps. Assistance is available to both homeowners and tenants whose full-time primary residence is within the District’s service area, which includes Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Carnelian Bay, Cedar Flat, and Agate Bay.
“The Friends of the Park Recreation Scholarship Program is another important step in ensuring that the District’s recreation programs and facilities are welcoming and accessible to the entire community,” said Amanda Conk, NTPUD Recreation, Parks and Facilities Manager. “Whether we help a child attend sailing camp, a family reserve a picnic area, or a resident access a community garden workshop, these scholarship dollars will create meaningful opportunities for everyone to participate.”
Scholarship funding is provided through the Friends of the Park Fund, a charitable 501(c)3 donor fund held by the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation. Community members and local businesses may also make tax-deductible contributions to help the program reach more North Tahoe families.
Scholarship applications are accepted online and in-person at the NTPUD Offices in Tahoe Vista at 875 National Avenue. Approved scholarship dollars are deposited directly into the applicant’s NTPUD CivicRec account and may be used for eligible programs and services through June 30th of the applicable program year.
