  • Scholarship discount is in addition to Resident discounts
  • Available to full-time NTPUD Residents only

Any full-time primary resident that lives within the North Tahoe Public Utility District boundaries is eligible. These neighborhoods include ####. Scholarships are available to owners or tenants. Proof of residency is required with application. Residency can be verified by a driver’s license with District address, utility bill with District address, lease or rental agreement with District address.

Scholarship qualifications are dependent on family size and income level. They are based off the federal poverty guidelines and adjusted annually in July.

Tier 1 level benefits: Participants must have a maximum combined annual household income of 200% of the federal poverty limit. Applicants must show proof of active enrollment in one of the following programs:

  • Liberty CARE (California Alternate Rates for Energy) Program
  • Southwest Gas CARE Program
  • Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe Scholarship Program
  • Medi-Cal/Medicaid, Medi-Cal for Families, CalFresh/SNAP, TANF/Tribal TANF, WIC, LIHEAP
  • Supplemental Security Income
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
  • Head Start Income Eligible (Tribal Only)

Tier 2 level benefits: Participants must have a maximum combined annual household income of up to 500% of federal poverty limit.

Dollars are allocated on a sliding scale, based on family size and Tier that participant qualifies for. Maximum allocation is $600 for a Tier 1 family of 4 or more.

All participants must still pay for a percentage of their fees for programs or rentals. All discounts are in addition to the resident discount provided to all NTPUD residents and applicants.

  • Tier 1 discount is 50% off the NTPUD resident rate
  • Tier 2 discount is 25% off the NTPUD resident rate

Scholarship dollars and discounts are available for:

  • NTPUD sponsored programs
  • Park facility rentals, including rentals at North Tahoe Regional Park and Tahoe Vista Recreation Area.
  • Memberships, including Tahoe Vista Boat Launch

Scholarship dollars and discounts are not available for:

  • North Tahoe Event Center events or rentals
  • Outside vendor programs held at NTPUD facilities (ex. Little League)

The scholarship dollars that you receive after submitting application are available in your CivicREC account. The monies will remain in your NTPUD CivicREC account until allocated to a program or until June 30, whichever comes first.

The scholarship dollars will be automatically added when registering for an applicable program on the payment page. If user would like to save their scholarship dollars for a different program, they must adjust the payment option at checkout.

Friends of the Park Fund is a special fund held through the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) public charity. Accordingly, all contributions are treated for tax purposes as gifts of public charity and are generally tax deductible, subject to individual and corporate limitations.
