(Tahoe Vista, Calif.) Tuesday, June 9, 2026 – The North Tahoe Public Utility District (NTPUD), in partnership with the North Tahoe Community Alliance, the Tahoe Fund, North Tahoe Arts, and the Arts Council of Placer County, today announced a Call to Artists for a permanent public art installation at the North Tahoe Regional Park in Tahoe Vista, California.
Artists and artist teams are invited to submit qualifications and concept proposals for a large-scale, unique outdoor art piece to be installed in the recently completed Community Gathering Space in the North Tahoe Regional Park (6600 Donner Road, Tahoe Vista).
“This is an exciting opportunity to bring a lasting work of public art to one of our region’s most active and accessible outdoor spaces,” explained Sue Daniels, President of the NTPUD Board of Directors. “Thanks to full project funding from our partners at the North Tahoe Community Alliance and the Tahoe Fund, we are excited to invite artists to submit ideas that will resonate with our community, celebrate and honor the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe, and welcome everyone who visits the park.”
Artists are encouraged to propose work that responds to one or more of the following project themes:
- Connection to Place – North Lake Tahoe’s natural environment, seasons, landscapes, and sense of place.
- Community Gathering – Shared experiences, recreation, wellness, and community identity.
- Stewardship & Sustainability – Environmental care, destination stewardship, and respect for the Lake Tahoe Basin.
- Cultural Heritage – Recognition of regional history, including Indigenous and contemporary narratives.
Artists or artists teams in North Lake Tahoe are strongly encouraged to apply and will receive priority preference in the selection process.
A total project budget of $75,000 is available, inclusive of all artist fees, design, fabrication, engineering, and materials.
Submissions are due to the District by Friday, July 31st at 5:00p.m.
This project is funded through generous support from the Tahoe Fund and TOT-TBID Dollars at Work program. The NTCA and Placer County invest funds generated by tourism in North Lake Tahoe to support community vitality, environmental stewardship and economic health in the community.
