Now offering up to an $80 bill credit for income-qualified customers
(Tahoe Vista, Calif.) Wednesday, June 3, 2026 – The Board of Directors of the North Tahoe Public Utility District (NTPUD) is pleased to announce a further expansion of the District’s Utility Rate Relief Program, opening the door to even more residents seeking income-based assistance to help manage their water and wastewater utility bills.
Applications are now available online for the newly expanded program, which offers two tiers of monthly water and/or wastewater utility bill credits to income-qualified customers within the NTPUD service area.
“We are proud to announce the expansion of our rate relief program,” said Sue Daniels, President of the NTPUD Board of Directors. “This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to ensure essential water and wastewater services remain affordable for local residents who need assistance the most.”
Tier 1 of the program now provides a monthly credit of $80 off a combined water and wastewater bill, and $35 off a wastewater only bill, for NTPUD residents who maintain their primary residence within the District.
Tier 1 applications must also be actively enrolled in the Liberty Utilities CARE (California Alternate Rates for Energy) program, or at least one or more of the following programs: Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe Scholarship Program, Medi-Cal/Medicaid, Medi-Cal for Families, CalFresh/SNAP, TANF/Tribal TANF, WIC, LIHEAP, Supplemental Security Income, Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Head Start Income Eligible (Tribal Only).
Tier 2 now provides a monthly credit of $40 off a combined water and wastewater bill and $17 off a wastewater only bill, for NTPUD residents who verify that their annual combined household income before taxes is not more than 500% of the current federal poverty limit.
The program is available to residential wastewater accounts, as well as single-family and multifamily residential water accounts. Local renters and tenants who are non-account holders with the NTPUD may also apply and the District encourages those who are interested to discuss the program benefits with their landlord(s). Allocated funds will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until fully expended, between July 2026 and June 2027.
NTPUD Rate Relief Program applications are now available online and in person at the District’s Office in Tahoe Vista, 875 National Avenue.
