Recreation and Parks Commission

October 5, 2018 - Recreation and Parks Commissioners Needed!  Please consider serving your community as a volunteer on the Recreation and Parks Commission!  

The District is seeking adult and youth/high school Commissioners.  Please fill out the application below and email, mail or drop off at the District offices.  Applications are due by November 15th for consideration at the December 9, 2018 Board of Directors meeting.

The Board of Directors invites District residents and business owners who have an interest in recreation and parks to volunteer and serve on the Recreation and Parks Commission. Its members are an advisory commission to the NTPUD Board of Directors and liaison between the Board and the community on matters related to Recreation and Parks, and also administer the Youth Trust Fund which provides recreation scholarship opportunities for District children and teens.

The Commission consists of five (5) adult members and two (2) student members and up to two (2) alternates. Notice of vacancies are posted on the District website, at the three Post Offices located within the District, advertised in the Sierra Sun and in our District E-newsletter. Applications received will be submitted to the Board of Directors and reviewed for consideration of their appointment.  Adult members serve three (3) year terms and student members serve one (1) year terms and both may serve multiple terms.  

 Steps to Apply:

  1. Review the By-laws for the Commission.  
  2. Complete the Recreation and Parks Commission application.
  3. Submit the completed application to the District; visit the contact link for details.

The Recreation and Parks Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at 5:30 PM, at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach.  (Each January the Commission reviews the meeting day/time and finds a time that works for all.)

The  Recreation and Parks Commission also assists with the NTPUD Pancake Breakfast which is held the second Saturday of the annual SnowFest Celebration in North Lake Tahoe. The Pancake Breakfast is held at the North Tahoe Event Center in Kings Beach between 8:30am - 10:30am and kicks off a day of SnowFest family-friendly activities in Kings Beach including the Pancake Breakfast, Dress Up Your Dog Contest, Kings Beach Parade, and a variety of other events.
