Chairs are provided for you to setup with a Scenic Overlook rental. The only additional item that is allowed at a Scenic Overlook rental is an arch. No tables are allowed.

A nice idea is to also reserve the TVRA Plaza, which is suitable for a large event and additional rental items. Ceremony can occur at the Overlook, with the reception on the Plaza.

No. In protection of the wildlife and environment, there is no throwing or releasing of anything at events or weddings.

The 2-hour Scenic Overlook rental is inclusive of your setup and cleanup time. That means that you should not plan to arrive several hours early to setup. You can arrive 30-45 minutes early to ensure chairs, arch and flowers are in proper location.

The Scenic Overlook will be marked and sectioned off for private use during your 2-hour rental period. The remainder of Tahoe Vista Recreation Area will remain open and accessible to the public. NTPUD cannot guarantee exclusive use of space during rental.

We want all of our users to have an enjoyable experience. Due the popularity of TVRA during summer months and high volume of public use, we need to take each weekend request on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out to [email protected] for assistance.

The Tahoe Vista Recreation Area has a dedicated parking lot and street parking is also available in specific areas. NTPUD will not reserve spaces for events, the lot is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Lake Tahoe is black bear and raccoon habitat, please use caution. Make sure to clean up after yourself and your guests and deposit all trash into a bear-proof trash receptacle. Do not leave food unattended at any time. Do not approach wildlife.

Charcoal grilling and grills are restricted within North Lake Tahoe and NTPUD parks (with the exception of the built-in grill at the Ramada), per North Tahoe Fire Protection District seasonal burn ban. The use of propane outdoor barbecues are also restricted on certain days, according to the fire restrictions at the time. Visit www.ntfire.net for up-to-date information and regulations related to regional and local burn bans.

NTPUD staff will collect trash, but renter is responsible for bagging trash and putting inside or next to trash receptacles. Do not overfill trash receptacles. Renter is responsible for bagging their own trash and replacing with bags if full. Renter may choose to bring additional trash cans for placement around rental space.

A two week minimum is required for rentals.

NTPUD requires general liability insurance with additional liquor liability coverage any time that alcohol is served.

For outdoor events, general liability insurance is required for events over 100 people, any athletic event, and events deemed “high risk” per NTPUD.

Unless a District-approved exemption applies, applicants shall provide and maintain general liability insurance with limits of at least one million dollars ($1,000,000) per occurrence, two million dollars ($2,000,000) general aggregate for bodily injury and property damage arising out of the activities and properties as described herein. Coverage shall include contractual liability covering the Applicant’s obligations. Applicant shall provide the District with a certificate of insurance and additional insured endorsement naming the North Tahoe Public Utility District 30 days in advance of the event. The District reserves the right to waiver insurance requirements or require additional insurance requirements dependent on the nature of the event. North Tahoe Public Utility District – PO Box 139, Tahoe Vista, CA 96148. District staff can provide a list of exemptions upon request.

Insurance can be acquired through any third-party agency. NTPUD recommends www.gatherguard.com for Special Event Liability Insurance. If purchasing insurance through GatherGuard, use the following venue ID codes when making purchase:

  • Tahoe Vista Recreation Area: OBE-002

A reservation is not considered secure and a permit will not be approved until:

  • The permit is signed and returned to the District by the applicant
  • The security deposit is paid in full
  • 50% of the rental use fees have been paid

The remaining 50% of field use fees and proof of insurance are required 30 days in advance of the event. Events scheduled within two weeks of the event date require full payment of all fees in advance of the scheduled event to confirm the date and permit.

The NTPUD uses www.airnow.gov to determine air quality in the North Lake Tahoe region. NTPUD will close its parks and fields if the air quality is above 200 AQI, as determined by the website. If AQI is above 200, renter has the option to cancel their event and receive a 100% credit toward a future event. If the AQI is below 200 at the time of the rental, NTPUD will not issue credit if renter chooses to cancel their event.

If NTPUD is forced to cancel a reservation for any other reason, the renter will receive 100% of their rental fees back. NTPUD reserves the right to cancel a reservation at any time. NTPUD will follow the following timeline and refunds for cancellations initiated by the renter except as otherwise provided:

  • 30-60+ days: Applicant shall be refunded entire security deposit and 50% of use fees.
  • Under 30 days: In the event of a cancellation by the customer 30 days prior to the date of the event no portion of rental payment and security deposit will be refunded.
