(Tahoe Vista, Calif.) January 18, 2021 – At its regular meeting this month, the North Tahoe Public Utility District (District) Board of Directors adopted Resolution 2022-02, formally honoring Robert “Bob” Orr for his exemplary service as the District’s Utility Operations Superintendent.
Orr retired on January 6, 2022, concluding his distinguished 35-year career in public service with the District. He is one of the District’s longest-serving employees.
Orr started with the District on July 10, 1986, and has served in multiple capacities and held various titles with increasing responsibility, including Maintenance Worker I; Operator; Field Inspector; Crew Chief; and Operations Supervisor/Superintendent.
Throughout his career, he was instrumental in implementing the District’s mission to be effective environmental stewards by providing efficient, safe, and accountable water and sewer service to the North Lake Tahoe community. His steadfast commitment to the dependable operation of the District’s utility infrastructure is evident in nearly every pipe, valve, distribution pump, and other equipment maintained throughout the community. His contributions to the District’s training programs and safety procedures will be utilized by employees for many years to come.
“We (Board of Directors) want to express our deep respect and gratitude to Bob for his professional and dedicated service to the North Lake Tahoe community over the last 35 years,” said Sarah Coolidge, President of the NTPUD Board of Directors. “We are forever appreciative of his distinguished career, and we wish him continued health and happiness in his retirement.”
During his tenure with the District, Orr served as the District Safety Officer from 1999 to 2005 and earned the following certifications: Distribution Grade 3, Collections Grade 3, and Treatment Grade 2. He was also awarded the following distinctions: California Water Environmental Association (CWEA) Collection Person of the Year in 1994; CWEA Supervisor of the Year in 2010 and 2017; the Best of the Best Equipment Operator in 1994; District Safety Award in 2009; and Employee of the Year in 2016.
The District has selected Jason Dicey as the new Utility Operations Superintendent, effective January 7, 2022. Dicey is formerly the District’s Utility Operations Crew Chief and has worked for the District in numerous capacities since 2002.
