The North Tahoe Public Utility District (NTPUD) is seeking a uniquely talented and experienced Controller to join our management team. This is an exciting opportunity to support and help shape the District’s financial strategy as we continue to serve a vibrant, healthy community in the stunning North Lake Tahoe region.
The District provides essential water and wastewater services—maintaining 3,828 water connections and 5,524 wastewater connections—and also manages key community assets including the North Tahoe Regional Park, Tahoe Vista Recreation Area, and the North Tahoe Event Center.
With an upcoming retirement in the department, this position offers the rare benefit of a planned crossover transition, ensuring a smooth onboarding and continuity of institutional knowledge.

This position reports to our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and supervises an experienced staff of three in the finance and accounting department. Areas of responsibility and oversight include staff management, problem solving, financial transaction processing, recordkeeping and reporting, payroll, receivables, purchasing, accounts payable, auditing, cash and investments, and financial systems software. This position prepares, presents, and discusses financial information with our management team, auditors and supports the CFO and his interactions with the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.

The exempt position is full-time, year-round with excellent benefit package that includes CalPERS pension program, District-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents, $3,500 annual contribution to HRA, 12 paid holidays, paid time-off (sick, administrative, vacation), long-term disability and group life insurance. This position is also covered under the Confirmation of Understanding for Management and Confidential Employees. Availability to work an alternative schedule.
